Marwar secion of Rajasthan is known for Desert. Although it is not full desert, villages nearby Jodhpur there are lands where seasonal cultivation is done. Therefore during the off-season these shepherds take their cattle for grazing in the fields native to their villages.
A student took me to his village outside Jaipur. I felt so honored. I got to meet his parents and many other people in his family who lived on a farm. His father was a builder and they had an unbelievable home but his mother sat outside in the evening and made chapaties and milked the cow for our dinner.
